Coronavirus (COVID-19): what you need to do

 Stay at home

You should only leave the house for one of four reasons:

  • Shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible.
  • One form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household.
  • Any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.
  • Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home.

Advice for people with severe health conditions

This week NHS services will be contacting people with a range of severe health conditions urging them to self-isolate for 12 weeks. We have also contacted all local patients with a generic message following the prime ministers advice yesterday (23 March). Please don’t panic if you have received the text and don’t have a severe health condition. Health advice will be confirmed by letter to those identified this week. There is no need to contact your GP about the message.

Visit https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus for Full guidance on staying at home and away from others

2) Social media

“The NHS will be contacting people with a existing health condition urging them to stay at home. A detailed letter is being sent this week to those affected.  We have texted all local patients to explain this and to reinforce the advice to stay at home. #StayHomeSaveLives”

In accordance with national guidelines concerning Coronavirus (COVID-19), the surgery has taken proactive measures to move to a ‘triage first model of care’ to protect patients and staff from possible infection.

The surgery has now suspended the SystmOnline Booking function which allows patients to book face to face consultations. This is because all patients must be triaged first, to assess their risk of Coronavirus before coming into the surgery. Please do not come to the surgery to book an appointment, the only way you will be able to request an appointment is by telephone.

For the foreseeable future, we will not be offering pre-bookable GP appointments - any appointments already booked will be contacted by our staff and added to the triage list.

Nurse and HCA appointments already booked will remain booked but you will be contacted before your appointment.

Patients MUST be prepared to provide a reason for any appointment.

Please visit our website for further details we will keep this updated with any changes.

Thank you for understanding, everything we are doing is to try to protect our patients and staff as best we can.

****** IMPORTANT NOTICE ******

Please do not come to the surgery if you have a new continuous cough OR a fever with temperature over 37.8. You must self isolate for 7 days (this includes children).

If you have these symptoms and are WELL you can just stay at home and you do not need to ring 111 or be tested.

If you have these symptoms and are UNWELL you should go to 111 online for advice, do NOT come to the surgery, 111 will assess and advise.
